In November 2016, we launched the new College of Business website at DePaul. It was previously two separate websites for the graduate and undergraduate schools of the college, with sites named for each: driehaus.depaul.edu and kellstadt.depaul.edu.
One of the unfortunate things about the separate sites was that the schools didn't really have name recognition, so it was a missed opportunity for stronger SEO to have "business" in the URL. There was also duplicative content across the sites since they shared many of the same faculty, resources, and processes that were outlined in content on both sites, thus splitting traffic. Three of our main goals were to improve the user experience, reduce duplicative content, and increase organic traffic by making the site more SEO-friendly.
As part of the migration project, we were able to combine the sites into a single source for all things Business at DePaul: business.depaul.edu. The new site was moved into our Responsive platform, so it had the added benefit of being fully mobile responsive and had a seamless look and feel with our main depaul.edu site. In combining the two sites, I restructured in the information architecture to more seamlessly integrate the content for both schools as well as their shared content.

Results of the migration and IA changes
After nine months of the site being live, we looked at the performance. We were impressed to see organic traffic increase across the board. We also saw significant increases to our top pages.
This is just a small segment of the results report, but it's exciting to see the work pay off. We met all three of our main goals and we're still measuring our page rankings and working to improve them further.
